New CD

Alexander Schimpf's first CD production as soloist with orchestra was just released: he recorded the three piano concertos K. 413, 414, and 415 by Mozart accompanied by the Bavarian Chamber Philharmonic under the direction of their principal violinist Gabriel Adorjàn. In all three works, Schimpf's own cadenzas are included. As of now the CD is available in stores, online, and via download/streaming.


Projects in Taiwan and China

In August 2019, Alexander Schimpf will have an extensive tour to Taiwan and China: first he will perform a recital and teach in a masterclass at the "NTUE Piano Festival" in Taipei, after that he will teach and perform at the "ASC Summer Academy" in Beijing.


"Classical Bridge" Festival in Manhattan

In July/August 2019 Alexander Schimpf will perform and teach at the "Classical Bridge" Festival in Manhattan. Besides an all-Beethoven recital he will play the Brahms Piano Quintet; additionally he will give a masterclass of one week.



Foundation of an International Piano Series in W├╝rzburg

In the spring of 2017, the new concert series "Klaviermusik in Gethsemane - Internationale Pianisten im Konzert" is starting under the artistic direction of Alexander Schimpf. Each year, five top-class pianists are invited to perform in Würzburg at the protestant Gethsemane Church, which figures among the acoustically best venues in the region.


Recital and masterclass in Viet Nam

In August 2017, Alexander Schimpf will perform and teach in Viet Nam for the first time. Upon invitation of the Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory, he will play an all-Beethoven recital and give a masterclass.


Apppointment as professor in Hanover

Starting in the winter semester 2016, Alexander Schimpf has been appointed professor for piano at the University of Music, Drama and Media Hanover (Germany).



Recital and masterclass in New York City

From July 24th-31st, 2016, Alexander Schimpf will be a guest at the "International Keyboard Institute and Festival" for the third time, to play a recital and give a masterclass in Manhattan. Further information at

Alexander Schimpf's new solo CD was just finished and will be released in January 2015 in cooperation with the German label OehmsClassics. Once again, piano works by three composers are combined: Johannes Brahms, Claude Debussy, and Ludwig van Beethoven. Further information coming soon! 


New recital dates in Germany and the United States

During the coming months, Alexander Schimpf will perform solo recitals in Chicago, Munich, Cleveland, Washington, D.C., and at the Elmau Castle in Bavaria.

US Concert Tours 2014

In early 2014, Alexander Schimpf will be on tour again twice in the United States. He will play solo recitals among others in Boston, Sarasota/FL, and Chicago, and perform as soloist in piano concertos by Beethoven, Brahms, Tchaikovsky, and Schumann. More details at "Concerts"!


Debut at Munich Philharmonic Hall
On December 29th, Alexander Schimpf will perform two piano concertos by L. v. Beethoven in the Great Hall of "Philharmonie am Gasteig" in Munich. He will be accompanied by the Prague Philharmonia Orchestra under the direction of Olivier Tardy.


Bavarian State Award for Alexander Schimpf
In November, Alexander Schimpf will be awarded the "Bavarian State Award for the Advancement of Arts" 2013.

Recital Tour to Italy

Alexander Schimpf was awarded the First Prize at the International Cleveland Piano Competition 2011 in Cleveland/Ohio (USA). In the final round, he performed Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 4 with the Cleveland Orchestra under the baton of Christopher Wilkins.
